Men's touch

Men's touch rugby in Manchester

Quick, tactical, and hard enough work that you will feel it on Tuesday, without the bruises, the early starts or the twenty-two-man commitment of a contact club.

Who it suits

Three kinds of player end up here

Ex-rugby players

You miss the game, not the Sunday mornings and the physio bills. Touch gives you the reading of space, the offloads and the competition, minus the collisions.

People who have never played

Footballers, runners, five-a-side regulars and people who have not done a team sport since school. If you can jog and catch, one Monday is all it takes to get the idea.

Players chasing tournaments

We enter open competitions around the UK through the year, and some of our players have gone on to international touch. Train seriously and there is somewhere to take it.

What you get

Two hours that actually count as training

Every Monday at Hough End Leisure Centre: warm-up, skills, then rolling games with constant subs. It is more running than you expect and less standing about than any gym class.

  • Conditioning without the treadmill

Repeated sprints, sharp changes of direction and two hours that disappear.

  • Skills that transfer

Passing under pressure, decision-making at speed, defensive line discipline.

  • Competition when you want it

Tournament squads through the season, entered as a club rather than picked from trials.

  • No contact, no lost season

Nothing here is going to put your Saturday, your job or your knees at risk.

  • A group, not a team sheet

The pub afterwards, the group chat, the away weekends. That is most of the appeal.

  • Mixed too

Plenty of the men’s squad play mixed as well. It is the same session, same night.
