Social & mixed
Social touch rugby in Manchester
If you have moved to Manchester, come out of a long stint of not doing much, or just want a weeknight that is not the gym, this is the bit of the club people actually stay for.
Why people join
Half the squad came for the sport. The other half came for the people.
Making friends in your thirties is famously awkward. Doing it while chasing a ball around a field in the dark turns out to be much easier than doing it in a bar.
Mixed by default
Men and women on the same team, every week. It is the standard competitive format and it makes for a much better club.
You get talked to
Rolling subs mean you spend half the session on the sideline chatting to whoever is next on. That is where the club actually happens.
The pub afterwards
Optional, well attended, and the reason a lot of people who came for one session are still here two years later.
Away weekends
Tournaments around the UK with a squad, a hotel and a Saturday night attached. You do not have to be good to be on the bus.
A group chat that never stops
Lifts, five-a-side spin-offs, birthday plans, arguments about whether it is too wet to play. Mostly not about rugby.
New to Manchester?
You are far from the first person to join specifically to meet people after moving here. It works better than almost anything else we can think of.

What mixed touch actually is
Not a watered-down version of anything
Mixed touch is its own format with its own national competitions. Teams field men and women together, and the rules are built so that both matter. You cannot win a game of mixed touch by simply giving the ball to the quickest bloke.
For a club our size it is also the most sensible way to train: one session, everybody in it, beginners next to internationals. Nobody gets left out because there were not enough numbers for their team that week.

Clips, tournaments, pub photos and the occasional bit of nonsense: @manchesterfoxes is the honest version of the club.
